BMW Drivers Meet: Wahroonga Shops

Excellent turn out on a Saturday morning from NSW BMW Club
members and spectators.

This where it all began

I love the front hinged hoods exposing M power heart. There’s something pleasant in the rectangular tail lights for all the perfectionists out there. The symmetry and clean sharp lines of the subtle widebody fenders confirming the aggressive pedigree of the BMW brand.

The most iconic clown shoe

No one could stay indifferent to this car. I love it for being unique. Glad to spot one of these, as it’s a rare occasion out on the streets.

Modern BMs

Bright coloured and slick, these modern day BMWs dominate the streets with a few examples on display for this meetup. Turbocharged to perfection the aggressive looking M3 and M2.

Warriors from the previous decade

All dressed in white were the screaming v8, the go-kart 1M along with track ready 135. This is my favourite era of BMWs, just before the ‘boosted’ engine sound started pumping through the speakers.

A bunch of E30s

The days when cars were simple and bulletproof. We got to see a few immaculate examples of the original 3 Series. I didn’t get a chance to speak to the owner, but I was still blown away by the attention to details and colour pallete of one E30. Needless to say it was a center of attention!

Roll out of factory E30

I was equally impressed by another E30, which looked bone stock, but there was something about it which made me stop and chat to the owner. It was the unique cream-champagne colour. The car is restored to its original condition and even the unassuming stock wheels looked so good on this car. I’m looking forward to featuring this BMW soon and telling its story.

The classic 6 series

It looked like a monument positioned above all other cars. So I was just admiring it from a distance. I miss the razor thin c-pillars, which made for these iconic huge rear windows.

Modified vs Original dilemma

I know these cars have a perfect platform for a mean race car or a street project, as seen on the day as well. I just couldn’t take my eyes of an ‘untouched’ E46 M3. Parked beautifully in the early rays of the morning, it looked perfect in its purity. The best version of BMW’s inline 6 hands down.

Open top beauties

The weather was perfect and I wouldn’t mind zipping through town in one the convertables on display. Perfect view of the interior with the oh-so-sweet manual gear shift.

A soft spot for a fellow E36

The only wagon on display was a simple 90s 3 Series. The only car in dark green colour as well. The only car with roof rails. The only car of that era, which I could spot on the day. However, it wasn’t a show stopper, but I think in its humble appearance lies the elegance of E36.

Thank you everyone for coming! I’m looking forward to see you in the upcoming events this year.
